Words from the Athlete
“Martial arts has played a huge role in my life, helping to develop me into the person I am today. I was attracted to the mystery, powers and skills attained in mastering these ancient martial art forms. It’s a quest to always better one’s self. MMA fighters are the new gladiators, and MMA the new age arena. Many people might see fighting in the cage as gruesome, but for me, it is purely two warriors showcasing their skills. Skills that are developed over hours of training and perfected through years of development. Honour, integrity and loyalty are all characteristics that I hold in high regard – these are attributes needed in every day life, which I learned through the dedication and discipline required for this sport. I feel any individual willing to take a step forward for glory must first be humble and work hard on pushing their body and mind through boundaries perceived as impossible.
Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing. — Laila Ali
I draw all my strength from God and if God is with me, who can be against me? Always remember: greatness comes from within!”
